It describes region by region the various places of interest in the Kingdom and is aimed at the tourist who is interested in seeing more than the most obvious sights of Bangkok and Chiang Mai. There have been other guides, mostly to the capital only, but none has been as comprehensive as this. The authors know Thailand well and both have travelled extensively throughout the country in the course of their official duties. Achille Clarac came as French Ambassador in 1959 and Michael Smithies as British Council Education Officer in 1960.
